Do you know about solar cell?

In recent years, we are faced with the problem of energy depletion. So we need to develop new energy resources. One new kind of energy resources is the CIGS solar cell. Maybe it is difficult for you, but I believe you can understand after I explain this. At least now, CIGS solar cell has a lot more merits than the other solar cell. One interesting merit is it looks beautiful. But that is not important. There are two important merits. First merit is high efficiency, and second merit is low price.

 The first merit is high efficiency. I think you know the sun has a lot of energy in our solar system. This means the natural light has a lot of energy. We call that, a photon. So solar cell were invented because we want to use this natural light energy. Unfortunately, however, despite the efforts of many scientists, many solar cells don’t have high efficiency. This means, if natural light has 100 energy, many solar cell extraction only 1 to 2 energy. But CIGS can use 18 to 20 energy, because CIGS solar cell has high Voc and high Isc. You know the power is the product of V and I. So high Voc and Isc means to make high power. Of course, CIGS isn’t best high efficiency cell. However, it is the best reasonable (meaning possible). This is why I study CIGS.

 The next reason is low price. In my first reason, I already said CIGS is not the best high performance cell. This is very similar in price. Clearly, CIGS is not the lowest price cell. But in the price-performance ratio, CIGS is most efficient cell. If I make 100w power solar cell, I need economics benefit. The economics benefit is CIGS make 1w power, with only $1. And we can use this cell for almost 15 years. Of course, we need some repair costs, but it’s cheaper the other cells. This is because, CIGS is not single crystal. It is poly crystal cell. This meaning is we can make it easier than the other cells. And it also means a low price.

In conclusion, there are two clear reasons why I think CIGS is most good solar cell. If we need solar energy in the future, high efficiency and low price are very important. CIGS has two satisfying things. You can obtain high efficiency if you only invest a little bit.
